We bid farewell to the 19-series with a distillation of the best of 19.01 and 19.02 into a final edition of 15 watches.

A watch of contrasts

The MING 19.05 has a new solid sapphire dial with inky black undercoat that shares the same ‘inversion’ with our other watches under certain lighting conditions. However, it is the first 19 series to have indices and luminous material on the dial itself: the arcs previously lasered into the upper crystal are now cut into the dial and filled with ceramic Super-LumiNova X1 for enhanced brightness and definition. There is no hint of the very classical movement from the very modern dial side.

New movement, same finishing

The 19.05 shares a movement base with the 19.02 World Timer – the Schwarz-Etienne for MING Cal. ASE 200.1, in a unique configuration with micro-rotor winding. The movement features skeletonized bridges, a matte-blasted 5N rose gold coating, and hand-finished and polished anglage. It has a power reserve of approximately 72 hours and is wound bidirectionally by a rotor made of sintered tungsten. The signature MING skeletonized barrel cover allows for easy determination of the state of wind. As with the other 19-series watches, the movement is adjusted in five positions and tested for an extended period prior to delivery.

Tested construction and attention to detail

The 19.05’s case –a thin titanium band holding the two deep-box sapphire crystals together – is made from grade 5 titanium with a mixture of mirror-polished and finely brushed surfaces. It is once again constructed without a spacer ring for maximum rigidity.

Both external sapphire crystals carry double-sided antireflective coatings. Hands are skeletonized and loaded with Super-LumiNova X1, along with the ring inside the bezel that projects a soft glow onto the dial. Finally, the 19.05 is completed by our Universal Bracelet in matching grade 5 titanium with curved quick release ends, and a strap from Jean Rousseau Paris.

MING continually aims to improve aesthetics and functionality of products where possible; to this end we reserve the right to make changes prior to final delivery.

This guide applies to the following watches/ variants:

  • 19.05

Winding & power reserve:

  • The 19.05 is equipped with a self/automatic winding Schwarz-Etienne ASE200.1 movement.
  • This movement has a ~72 hour power reserve when fully wound.
  • If worn daily and the wearer is sufficiently active, the watch will stay wound and run indefinitely.
  • If the power reserve is depleted, please hand wind the watch with 20-30 turns of the crown and give it a light shake to restart.
  • Simply giving the watch a light shake and wearing it is not sufficient to bring the watch up to a full or nearly full state of wind.

Setting time:

The crown has two positions:

  • The first position (pushed all the way in) is where the crown should be for wearing and to ensure water resistance. This position is also the hand winding position.
  • The second position (one click out) is the setting of hour and minute hands.

Other useful information:

  • The best way to clean the watch is with a soft, clean and damp cloth. We strongly discourage the use of any cleaning agents or solutions.
  • We use different formulations and techniques to apply lume on the dials, hands, crystal and other components etc. This results in a slight difference in the peak brightness and length of luminesence between the two. This is normal.
  • Modern luminous material requires charging to work effectively. Lume can be charged with direct exposure to bright sunlight or a strong light source such as a LED torch. The stronger the light source, the faster the lume charges.
