Reflecting on 2024, I am reminded of a quote by Jhumpa Lahiri, a favourite writer of mine:
“Still, there are moments when I am astounded by each mile I have journeyed, each meal I have savored, each person I have encountered, each room in which I have rested. As mundane as it all seems, there are instances when it surpasses my imagination.”
It’s a feeling I resonate with when I look at all the achievements and lessons from the year: our second Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve prize, co-founding the Alternative Horological Alliance (with a tantalum bracelet as our debut project), presenting the insanely luminous and world’s first borosilicate dial, unveiling MING Polar White, opening our office in La Chaux de Fonds, welcoming our first full time watchmaker, and realising we’ve commercialised over 70+ references in our mere 7 years.
MT and I are humbled by the support from you - our collectors, friends in the media and the watch community. I am also awed by what MT, the MING team, and our partners are able to achieve together. There are definitely times I am bewildered by it all, but mostly I’m grateful for what’s been and excited for what’s to come.
We have quite a bit planned for 2025 like a couple of new case families, new movements, expanding our diver and 29-series line up, a return to a metal we haven’t used in a while, a few new partnerships, and particularly exciting for me - our first sub-10k chronograph! I’m also going to be on the road a lot more at events and watch weeks, with more opportunities for you to see our watches in the metal.
A logistical note to close out - the team and our partners will be taking a break for Christmas and New Year’s from 20 December 2024 to 6 January 2025. While orders can be placed on www.ming.watch and you can still send us enquiries at hello@ming.watch, we resume shipping and take care of your enquiries as soon as we are back.
For now and on behalf of everyone at MING - happy holidays and best wishes for 2025!
