Horologer MING - Watches by MING

MING/Journal: March 2025

March is a frenetic month for the watch world as winter makes way for spring, and Geneva prepares for the madness that is Watches & Wonders/ Time to Watches etc. And for the first time ever, we’re joining in that madness - MING will be at Time to Watches 2025 all of next week. Come see us at the ground floor of the Villa Sarasin from 1-6 April where we’ll be camped out with our friends from Fears Watch Company.

The preparations for the show are just the culmination of a busy month for us though - we started by announcing our second retail partnership with Ace Jewelers in The Netherlands. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made the time to join us for an evening of watches and conversation in Amsterdam.

This was quickly followed by our latest SPC and our first ever omakase watch: Project 21. And in the nature of a special project, this watch brings together a lot of cool ideas, masochistic people, innovative technology and the essence of traditional watchmaking evolved to the modern age.

We recommend checking out our YouTube where MT walks us through the why, the how and the what of Project 21 and for those of us who enjoy horological history, do be sure to read our post of detailing the history of the Frederic Piguet 21. We will have a prototype available to try on in Geneva next week.

We also wanted to take a moment to thank the collectors who made Project 21 not just possible, but successful - as all the Series edition watches are reserved now.

Our CEO, Praneeth joined Gabe & Asher at Collective Horology for a podcast where they sit down to discuss The Unspoken Realities of Swiss Production and some interesting, memorable and even painful anecdotes. We’re biased, of course, but we’d recommend giving it a listen over the weekend and you might find out a surprising thing or two about how in-house some of our processes are or the creative solutions we’ve had to engineer to realise certain designs.

We weren’t done yet though, because last week and by popular demand, we opened orders for this year’s 37.09 Bluefins. If you’re subscribed to our newsletter and reading this, the Bluefin requires no introduction. If you’ve been looking at Bluefins on Instagram or wondering what watch to take on that summer trip, head on over to our website and get yours before they’re gone again.

We’re trying to make it a tradition to sign off these monthly MING/ Journals by sharing a little bit from one of the team’s other interests. We’ve done mechanical keyboards, cars, and this month it’s bicycles. Todd Searle is an author, watch enthusiast, friend, and - like MT - a cyclist. They sat down together recently to talk about the Pursuit of Lightness in cycling and watches and you can find this conversation over on Todd’s Idea33 Substack.

Thank you, as always, for being part of our journey. We hope to see some of you in Geneva!

Until next month,

Team MING
