Horologer MING - Watches by MING

Dispatches from the Special Projects Cave

Today, we’re excited to lift the covers on our latest special project. One that began at a memorable dinner in 2023, where MT was handed the challenge of our first ever horological omakase.

Ten brave souls committed to a watch with no details provided, aside from a price cap and an estimated delivery window. We dubbed this watch, Project 21.

Realising Project 21 - MT’s modern interpretation of a extra flat dress watch with vintage proportions - took us two years and is the result of not just the ten souscription collectors trusting us, but a unique set of partners and a very special movement coming together. We are celebrating the realisation of this project with a limited 15-piece production version of the Project 21.

Project 21 is MT’s answer to a desire for a vintage-sized dress watch, one with visual delicacy but with modern tactility and robustness. The 35mm case is a machining piece of art courtesy of MT’s design skills and fellow AHA-member Joshua Shapiro and his team’s machining know-how. It is a monobloc construction in tantalum and Josh feels, and we quote, “We were extremely pleased with the result despite the difficulties and feel a tantalum case like this has never been made before.”

Powering the watch is MT’s take on a movement that once held the record for the thinnest movement in the world for several decades, and one that celebrates a 100 years of existence this year - the Frederic Piguet Cal. 21.

Head on over to our website for more images and complete details. The series edition of the Project 21 is available to order for CHF 32,500 from www.ming.watch or via our authorised retail partners. A 30% deposit is required for order confirmations and deliveries commencing in May 2025.

Thank you,

Team MING
